Featured Track

Our featured track this month is Jars by Beaky Sue

October's edition of blankpages is out now!

This month we're shedding some light on the world of Neon Art, with some stunning visuals from Karen Ay and Nick Malyon. The Tern Collective artists behind Manchester Time Piece (Annie Harrison, Jude Macpherson and Jacqueline Wylie) tell us how they turned Beetham Tower into a giant sundial, and the author of Song by Toad tells us how he accidentally made a blog. Peter Day is our featured poet this month; we've been given an exclusive excerpt from his poetry and photography collection, Perambulist Somnambulist. This month's Spotlight shines on Creaturemag and their fantastic new book, The Creature Alphabet, exhibiting 26 beautiful illustrations of endangered animals; take a look inside for a sneaky peak. Fiction this month comes from Miriam Foley and her heart wrenching short story, The Summer O'Toole had Pups. And finally... Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's the bird-like Beaky Sue flitting in last but not least with her brand new solo EP, Jars.

    Peter Day

Peter Day's images are “subjective measurings or realistic musings” detailing subverted autobiographies that mark out his local environments, personal spaces and journeys. His work centres on the familiar and the banal, focussing primarily in that which is so familiar it is often looked over. Peter is currently working on several projects concerning the ‘therapeutic’ and emotional expression in image making through a project with patients suffering from early memory loss with Wolverhampton Healthcare Trust, and also in his work about the death of his father, Pictures of My Father 2012.

Peter is a Senior Lecturer in Photography at Wolverhampton University, and has exhibited and been published in both the UK and in Europe.

    Song By Toad

Matthew Young is the voice behind the music blog Song, by Toad. He is an increasingly cynical thirty-five year old former design engineer, and lives in Scotland with his infinitely tolerant wife, in a ridiculous house full of Russian propaganda posters and with a disco ball in the living room. And yes, he does drink a lot of gin. And swears. So what?
