Creative Space

Blank Media Collective is delighted to offer emerging practitioners the use of an open studio space and black & white darkroom. The use of these spaces is on a first-come first-served basis. Bookings can be made for single days, 3-days or weekly. Access to these spaces are during BLANKSPACE opening hours only. Artists must bring their own equipment, including chemicals and photographic paper. The spaces cannot be altered physically and should be returned to their original state after completion.

BLANKSPACE Darkroom Launch 

Opening of the new public black & white darkroom at BLANKSPACE. 

As well as being the base for some of our forthcoming workshops, ranging from basic printing and developing through to pinhole and alternate processes, the darkroom will also be available for use by the general public. More technical details to be announced shortly. 

To launch the opening we are having a free taster day on Tuesday 22 February where there will be a range of demonstrations and activities throughout the day, including basic printing, photograms, and the use of digitally printed paper negatives. The public are also invited to bring in their own negatives for printing. 

The day will run from 1.30pm until 8:30pm. Numbers are limited and will run on a first come first served basis, so if you'd like to reserve your place for a certain activity, please ring (0161 222 6164) in advance. Each activity will run hourly for around 40 minutes, with last 20 minutes of each hour free for those who just want to drop in for a quick look around and a chat. 

All children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult and activities not suitable for children under 8 years old. 

Normal opening times and prices: 

The darkroom can be booked in 2 1/2 hour slots throughout each day.

Prices per slot are £6.00 for the first slot and £4.00 if a second session is booked on the same day. 

Concessions are £4.00 per slot and include students, income support and OAP's) 

Note: please phone (0161 222 6164) to book in advance as occasionally the darkroom will be in use for public and private workshops, these events will be announced and we will also let you know when booking.
