She’s Lost Control Review
She’s Lost Control
Pauline, a visitor from Sheffield
Initially, on entering the exhibition the viewer thought ‘what is this all about’? Then after reading the information about each exhibit, the participant was challenged to think, re–think and ponder. Each exhibit was unique in itself once the underlying rationale had been grasped.

For example, Lyndsay Evans: Unfortunately/Fortunately was a clever illustration of how sometimes we become a statistic and have to remind ourselves that we are not infallible but we are unique and need to consider this. The method used was in the form of word–processed letters which could be described as a ‘rite of passage’ in life.

Also, Sally Newman: Eat Your Words attracted interest from all ages, illustrating how words can ‘give us away’ — our age, our diet, how tidy or untidy our lives may appear.

Full Circle’s building bricks were carefully built up, designed, re–designed and ‘destroyed’ within seconds, just as our architecture can be carefully planned and built, then bulldozed quickly in order to prepare for the next construction.

not so by Karen Boulton was an illustration of endurance and perseverance in spite of the underlying ‘cheat trap’ at one end, i.e. perseverance being a necessary trait for the trials of life.

These are just a few of the exhibits in this exhibition which stimulated thoughts and actions deviating from routine exhibitions which are usually non–interactive. It appeared especially popular with children who were totally uninhibited at participating.
She’s Lost Control was a venue for artists to exercise their creativity and ‘test’ this on the patrons.
