Blank Media would like to introduce you to:

Kalbakken (http://www.myspace.com/kalbakken)

From their myspace:

Kalbakken is a suburb of Oslo where the city starts melting into the forest; it is also a sibling duo playing reworkings of traditional Norwegian folksong half recalled from childhood and meticulously researched in libraries round Scandanvia.

Kalbakken’s self titled 9 track debut recording released by the Black and White Cat Press is available from the group or from the Black and White Cat Press website.

Burnst

What ‘drowned in sound’ had to say:

Manchester’s Burnst have attracted comparisons to 65daysofstatic in the past, and Explosions In The Sky. Truth is that they’re neither here nor there; rather, their energetic instrumentals recall Do Make Say Think at their most direct, all crashing cymbals and rapidly wandering guitar lines, underpinned by a balancing-everything bass. Somebody, somewhere, is calling this ‘math rock’ right now, and they might have a point – it’s certainly more in keeping with the recently maligned genre than Foals or Battles. It’s That F**king Tank for kids too sensitive for the Leeds combo’s ridiculous volume, but certainly fast enough to encourage lose-everything limb flailing.

Herzoga (http://www.myspace.com/herzogaband)

Herzoga were formed in the grey mess that is Stoke-On-Trent, Herzoga may be found bowed with intent over their instruments (no sniggering please) as they construct for your pleasure only the finest nuggets of wrongpop delight.

What people of said about them:

“Like early Art Brut wrestling with a pub outing of psychiatrists” - Steve Lamacq…..

“Not a second is wasted on this crucial, inventive unit. Think Art Brutish vox over Awful Sparksish quirkiness.” Artrocker

“More genius from our single-licious buddies at Org” - Subba -Cultcha….

“Somewhere lurking beneath that feisty bassline is the kind of talent that screams out that great things lie ahead.” - RoomThirteen.com….

“Part Wire and part very early XTC mixed with modern underground rock manouveres – exciting stuff.” - Manchester Music….

“Very Manchester post punk sounding. Could have been on Factory in the eighties.” http://www.indie-mp3.co.uk

“This is what Pavement would sound like if they came from Cobridge.” thirteenthworst.blogspot.com
