The Northern Art Prize

Friday November 21

The Northern Art Prize is a substantial prize for contemporary visual artists in the North of England.

With its home in Leeds, the prize celebrates and rewards professional artists of any age, working in any medium, based in the North East, North West and Yorkshire regions. The total prize money is £21,000 accompanied by a group exhibition for the four shortlisted artists at Leeds Art Gallery.

The Northern Art Prize is a unique and ambitious partnership between Logistik, Arup and Leeds City Council.

The shortlisted artists for this year’s Northern Art Prize are Clare Charnley, Richard Forster, Paul Rooney and Imogen Stidworthy. An exhibition of their work, including film, photography, drawing, performance and installation, will take place at Leeds Art Gallery from 21 November 2008 until 1 February 2009.
