BLANKPAGES: blankverse

We are always looking for new voices for blankverse, the creative writing section of blankpages. We accept poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction.

NEW Fiction Submission guidelines

blankpages exists to reflect diverse form in the arts - visual art, music, poetry - and the fiction page should reflect this diversity. We want to publish quality short fiction by exciting new voices.

Sometimes simple prose is the most effective. By nature, experiments are not always successful, although we are open to submissions that play with tradition or subvert expection etc.

Any themes will be considered.

Stories should be between 1500 and 2500 words, submitted as an email attachment in Word format to John Leyland, Fiction Editor at editor@blankmediacollective.org.

Short shorts or flash fiction between 100 and 500 words will also be considered for publication, submitted as above.

Please note, swearing or explicit content is not automatically prohibited, but it will be left to the editors’ discretion as to its inclusion and appropriateness.

Unfortunately we cannot offer payment for publication of stories.

NEW Poetry Submission guidelines

Again, anything goes. The main criteria is quality and the fact that you have something to say.

Poetry is often seen as something underground or even pretentious. Underground art is not a bad thing but the problem arises when it becomes accessible to a very limited circle. Poetry can also be seen as something sentimental, some say that its heyday is long gone. blankpages exists to represent a new generation of poets who will overcome all those misconceptions and help to inspire the next generation of poets to come.

Any themes will be considered.

Poems should be between 60 lines or less, submitted as an email attachment in Word format to Baiba Auria, Poetry Editor at editor@blankmediacollective.org

Unfortunately we cannot offer payment for publication of poems.

Please note; if email is unavailable, mail submissions will be accepted. If you wish your work to be returned, please include a SAE. Mail submissions should be sent to Blank Media Collective, c/o Mark Devereux, 30 Poplar Avenue, Manchester M19 2GS

IMPORTANT NOTICE
THE EDITORIAL TEAM KINDLY REQUESTS THAT YOU DO NOT SEND US WORK THAT FAILS TO MEET WITH THE ABOVE CRITERIA. SUCH WORK WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION IN BLANKPAGES AND IT IS WITH REGRET WE WILL BE UNABLE TO OFFER FEEDBACK.

For further information on these guidelines please e-mail Phil Craggs, blankpages Editor at editor@blankmediacollective.org
