And so
Amidst this all,
The beating of heads,
Nature breathing turmoil
And our crestfallen children,
One will still manage to find love.
Amidst the war sickness,
The nuclear threats of the misunderstood,
Human perversions and murder,
Miraculously, one will still seek love.
Amidst the scuds and missiles,
We find ourselves tearing our halos out,
Paying loans and mortgages,
Seeking normality and immortality.
One will wreak havoc until one receives the first rose
From that unpredictable person, then the world
Sheds light over the uncertain ghosts from the
Unfathomable shadows of merciful dust.
Amidst this all,
Love exists and when one gains it,
One will know why one lives.
Although the exceptions of lust
Should be crucified and buried
Way under this revolting modern
Way of life that has murdered romance –
A mass grave of numb cupids.
Love is burned at the stake like a witch,
It is heresy, the beauty of romance becomes
The vulgar obsession and therefore becomes a negativity;
A public execution of all Juliet and Romeos.
Amidst the ‘fuck me’ sentiments,
It isn’t hard to say ‘I love you’.
Do not refrain from the pain
In your heart, spill its blood
All over the gods of transcendental love.
