Biography / Personal Statement

I paint for the process; it keeps me sane and stops the world having to deal with a screaming mad-hatter. Most of the time anyway. 

This has it problems though as a battle begins between how I want the process (i.e. - make canvas, write on canvas, paint canvas, do a funny song and dance, murder canvas) and having a strong competed painting. 

As much as the private processes is first priority I do not what the competed painting to be lacking and so one of the many considerations I have to make is find the balance between the process and the result. 

The starting point for the painting comes from the day to day happenings of my life, I paint from my own life because, without any doubt, this is what I know best. I will take something form my life, be it something small and seemingly uneventful to the life changing moments. 

I have worked for some time on creating work that embodies the transition of real-life situation in to the abstract.
