Biography / Personal Statement
I have a deep rooted affinity with the countryside and its resources, in part informed by my family’s long association with farming. The cyclical element of the processes in nature inspires me, as do the insignificant details that we might often pass by. I am interested in ways that we work with or against nature; how we react and intervene, and how nature responds back at a domestic level and beyond. Exploring the oscillation between microcosm and macrocosm, I often question how very small things can imply much larger thoughts or concerns.
Through a minimal and poetic use of materials, which are often very fragile, I explore possible narratives and layers of meaning. By subtle manipulation I hope to renew a sense of curiosity, while always highlighting the beauty inherent in the forms used.

Wunderland
- TactileBOSCH, Cardiff
- March 5 2011 - 18 March 2011
- Group Show
As part of the International Women’s Day Centenary celebrations, tactileBosch brings you Wunderland. Selected eclectically like the wunderkammer of a wanderer through exotic lands, this is a female, sideways look at how things are or might be. Elliptical, sometimes obtuse, but definitely more Paula Rego than Lewis Carroll; Eva Hesse meets Herman Hesse. The women in this show bring their own particular take on matters surreal, serious and sublime, bound together by a light curatorial thread that weaves together these extra-ordinary perspectives. Access all areas of art practice in the special nooks and crannies that only tactileBosch can offer.
The Conversation
- Christ Church, Chester
- Nov 1 2010 - Nov 6 2010
- Group Show
Bringing together and uniting artists who are connected to the Fine Art department at The University of Chester, be it past students, current students, or staff, 'The Conversation' is curated by two former students - Estelle Woolley and Caroline Backhouse. The first of many in this sacred and unconventional space, the works in the show will encompass a wide range of themes and different media areas including painting, installation, photography, and performance. 'The Conversation' can be interpreted in many ways; from the connection between the artists themselves, the conversation that will be held between the works within a church context, and the conversation that the works will have with each other.

Mill24

- Group Show
Mill24 is a series of 24 hour exhibitions taking place every last Saturday of the month in April 2010 and May 2010 at Islington Mill, Manchester, UK. The project will utilise all 5 floors of the vastly versatile Mill space with a diverse range of work from both Local and International artists. The work will be innovatively presented, with site specific installation, performance, and time based media. Each exhibition will be a packed programme of up and coming artists, with each piece of work scheduled within a structured ‘day’. The concept for this project was born out of an interest in the quick turnaround of exhibition programming and the short attention span towards art that comes with it. The 24-hour time frame is essentially one private view, prolonging the excitement of an opening but turning all of the artwork shown in the exhibition into ‘limited edition’ works, once the day is over the work will not be seen again at the same venue. We have curated these engaging, interactive shows so that throughout one day several performances, happenings, and ‘openings’ occur simultaneously.
