Biography / Personal Statement

I am a relatively new illustrator having just had one book published with a Canadian publisher, Palimpsest Press, one being published in America for EECI and another one in the process, again for Palimpsest Press.  I am exceptionally hard working and I am excellent with time management even with short notice projects as I also work part time as an art/graphics teacher at a high school.  I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design at the University of Teesside so I have a good understanding about layout design and the flow of a picture book. The latest book I am working on has been co-written by myself and another author.  I have been asked to be this book's designer and editor that is something I am so excited about as I will be part of the book from beginning to end.  I also appeared in the Images 32 book and was over the moon seeing my illustration next to some quite infamous illustrators in the Images 32 exhibition.

My style, I feel is original and quirky.  I work predominantly in acrylics and I enjoy using a rich palette of colours.  I can develop both children and animal characters well and have the ability to demonstrate good use of character continuity and variation of viewpoints within my portfolio.

My long term aim is to work full time as an illustrator/author of picture books and to see my books in bookstores all over the world.
