Upcoming Event: [Recommends] Staged
Monday 11 October 2010 - Sunday 14 November 2010
The Art Corner, Manchester
Staged photography is one of the most creative uses of the medium. Everything comes from the mind of the artist and has to be constructed to be photographed. Because of the way the artists work, this kind of photography has ties to theatre and dance, sculpture, “happenings,” and literature. Photography is particularly well suited to producing narrative fictions because on some level we believe in them, and because they are always out of context - the viewer is invited to weave the “before” and “after” sections of the story themselves. In this way the artists are full of trust and openness - they ask you to engage with them, to follow them into their secret worlds…
The ‘Staged’t exhibition is put on by Manchester based artist group Cause and Effect and runs from October 11 - November 14 2010 at The Art Corner, Fallowfield, Manchester.
The theme of the exhibition showcases the works of Manchester based photographers Andy Glinka, Mario Popham, Anneka Morley and Ged Irwin as well as Liverpool based photographer Emily Morgan.
Whilst each photographers work differs from subject matter, all the work is linked as it is staged/set up.
