After greenroom’s recent announcement regarding it’s closure to the public at the end of May, Who’s Laughing Now? will be the final exhibition to take place at this much loved venue.

greenroom have shown unfaltering support to Blank Media Collective throughout our 2 year relationship and have been a big reason for the organisation’s growing success.

We hope you will all show your support to what has been one of Manchester’s leaders in the cultural landscape over the last 28 years.

Who’s Laughing Now?
Playful, dramatic and disconcerting, Who’s Laughing Now? brings together two artists from the Philippines and the North-West of England. Surreal portraiture explores the theme of guilt within the narrative of the work.

Michael Vincent Manalo’s Tales from the Story Teller is a collection of work that evocatively chronicles human experience and emotion. Manalo works in collaboration with the model, attempting to access their subconscious, extracting a tale that is told through his work. The series is an exploration into photographic portraiture and digital manipulation.

Shona Harrison’s taxidermy portraits or rabbit road kill, are difficult and compelling. She theatrically positions the animals in human-like poses, as if an accident has been preserved, which pushes buttons of guilt and grief. “It brings you face to face with something physically real, a dead animal and something which is the result of human action allowing a direct confrontation with life and our distance from the rest of the natural world”. – Shona Harrison
