Participating Artists

  • TSC

    Takahashi’s Shellfish Concern: TSC

Takahashi’s Shellfish Concern combines abstract expressionist visual art with experimental electronic-acoustic music to accentuate the similarities of both during improvised exchanges. Angela Guyton and Rodrigo Constanzo create a new event that requires the audience to consider this merger of music and art as a single expression.

The concept for Takahashi’s Shellfish Concern took shape in early 2006 back in their hometown, Miami, Florida.  Rodrigo and Angela had both worked along similar lines in Failure, Arc of Beauty, and continued their collaboration after the group’s dissolution in 2006.

Now based in Manchester England, Takahashi’s Shellfish Concern is performing as a trio with musician Anton Hunter across the UK.

  • EEI

    Ephemeral Eggplant Intervention: EEI

Ephemeral Eggplant Intervention generate a multitude of shapes and images, which keep evolving, or, as time goes on, appearing and disappearing, changing or transforming what the other is doing, and vice versa.

Ephemeral Eggplant Intervention is Xanu & Eeeex (paint), Xavi Gavin (video) and Logical Disorder (music). Using a mixture of paint and graphite, Barcelona artists Xanu & eeeex generate a multitude of shapes and images, which keep evolving, or, as time goes on, appearing and disappearing, changing or transforming what the other is doing, and vice versa.

Over these drawings, the video-artist Xavi Gavin projects images, which he has previously prepared, manipulating them live (tempo, color, form) based on what it is being created on the canvas. This dynamic dialogue becomes enriched by the heavy electronic live music, which follows the rhythm and intensity of the artistic act, becoming a catalyst for synergic energy.

  • Drawn to the Beat

Naomi Kendrick: Drawn to the Beat

Naomi Kendrick’s work involves the senses, narrative and participation. Naomi creates installations to be heard, felt, smelt and listened to as well as seen. She invites people to experience her work, and respond to it, by making their own. Naomi draws music and food amongst other things and makes sculptures that play on beauty and disgust. Naomi also runs workshops with a multi sensory and self-directed approach to experiencing contemporary art, in galleries across the UK.
