BLANK MEDIA PRESENTS…
featuring
BrB / James Gale / Kait DeVoy / K!d Farthing / MS Thomason / Iye / Messner / Burnst / botva
BLANK MEDIA WERE DELIGHTED TO PRESENT:
BrB

BrB are an up and coming Manchester based Jazz group. This performance will showcase music from the band, taking influences from Clifford Brown, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock and various other Jazz styles.
BrB are:
Dave Onash — Keyboard
Ross Garrod — Drums
James Adolpho — Double Bass
Ryan Searle — Saxophones
James Gale (http://www.myspace.com/jamesgale1)

‘feel the words…’ — the voice and the guitar of singer–songwriter James Gale. “I listened to your lovely songs… they are very haunting, melancholy and emotionally honest. I can’t quite put my finger on who the music reminds me of — maybe a little bit of stripped down Chris Whitley with a touch of early Neil Young…” One of many comments in similar vein. It seems everyone who searches for comparisons picks on a different name. That’s because James Gale IS James Gale and no–one else! A storyteller in song, with a voice to move the soul.
Kait DeVoy (http://www.myspace.com/kaitdevoy)

Previously of Liverpool’s Ella Guru, John Peel favourites, whose first album received critical acclaim. Kait DeVoy has been described as having “a voice dipped in honey” by The Guardian, and as being “…the bastard love child of Robert Smith and Kate Bush”. Crafted northern folk/soul sepia songs.
K!d Farthing (http://www.myspace.com/k1dfarthing)

K1d Farthing improvises — and sometimes improvisation is shit. I apologize if you are reading this to divert your attention whilst I’m improvising shit at you. I’ve got quite a lot of random gear in front of me (on me table) and, to be honest, I don’t really know what all the buttons do — but they sure make some badass noises.
MS Thomason (http://www.myspace.com/msthomason)

…Evoking the dark tones of Elliot Smith coupled with sensitive provocative guitar work, the recording of his entire debut album was completed in a farmhouse with only a minimal amount of equipment. The authenticity and organic charm of this artist will not fail to move you.
“Moody, gothic, romantic, UTBT bares the breaking point of a man. A fantastic, weary and cutting debut.” Subbaculture
“A delightful moonlit collection of soothing, inner city acoustica with a slightly dark heart.” Manchester Music
“…there is a quiet, haunting edge in the music that sends you reaching for a blanket.” Tasty Zine
“…it adds up to a stunning debut album from a new brilliant British talent but best of all ‘…Birch Tree’ is a raw, open and honest record that will make most sense at dawn, dusk or driving through the night, but will work wonderfully well at pretty much anytime, anywhere.” Moderate Rock
Iye (http://www.myspace.com/iyemusic)

“IYE are from a little room in Fenton called the eves. That’s where they jam out their swirling post rock sounds and epic vocal harmonies. Imagine low if they had a few more members and a few more pedals.” WELIKEDANGER Records
Iye are a 7 peice Post Rock guitar orchestra from Stoke On Trent, although still relatively new in the gigging scene, they offer gob smackingly huge washes of layered guitar swirls which are sure to pull the heart strings of any Post Rock veteran. They are a band that tick all the right boxes when it comes to musical influences but best of all they put all these influences together in their onstage performances which just get better and better.” WOTGODFORGOT
Messner (http://www.myspace.com/messnermusic)

From the foothills of the Snowdonia mountains comes Messner; half hazy acoustic folk and half synth–based electronica. A multi–instrumentalist and producer, he sings in Welsh about such things as wasting time, communication problems, and British weather. Often accompanied by a mysterious but beautiful female string duo he goes forth with his acoustic guitar, pedals and laptop in search of new musical experiences. Messner’s debut album entitled ‘em am’ was released in April of 2008 and has been described by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens as ‘very nice indeed, lovely stuff’.
Burnst (http://www.myspace.com/motherfuckinburnst)

Burnst are an instrumental rock trio that don‘t sound like Explosions In The Sky. They fuse occasional heavy riffs with long passages made up of complicated drumming, clever bass and twinkly guitar lines, never forgetting to include a pop melody. You might say it was a mix of Owls, Don Cabellero and Billy Mahonie. Maybe Yes and Converge are also detectable influences. Burnst have been playing together for 7 years and have only made 5 demo cd’s, so you really need to try and watch them live if you are at all interested! In that 7 years they’ve played with the likes of Do Make Say Think, Pedro The Lion, Lite, Brandt Bjork, Crippled Black Phoenix, These Arms Are Snakes, Kong and many better bands you may not have heard of.
botva (http://www.myspace.com/thebotva)

hm my music… i don know what to say about my music,
