MUSEA is curating an exhibition for September 2010. The concept of the exhibition is based upon a standard 36 exp. photographic film….

There will be 36 artists commissioned to produce work for this exhibition – each one will be asked to use a roll of 36exp. photographic film, either colour or black & white (your preference). The only requirement of the exhibition is that you take 36 photos and produce a single contact sheet with those photos on (we can assist with producing the contact sheet). The contact sheet, along with a selection of enlarged photos from it, will be exhibited alongside one another, so that the exhibition consists of 36 contact sheets, of 36 photos, from 36 artists.

There are no restrictions on how you use the film, no subject matter is restricted. The idea is that the 36 photos and the contact sheet relay some kind of meaning, narrative or artistic concept, which will be up to you to create. There are also no restrictions on who can enter; the aim is that both professionals and students can exhibit work together.

The exhibition will be held at the ‘EASA’ Gallery, Manchester (www.easauk.net) in September 2010, with the deadline on 1 September 2010. There will be an Opening Night and after-party on Wednesday 29th September 2010. It’s a great opportunity to create some original and thought-provoking works, as well as be part of an really exciting exhibition. There will also be a hard-back, photographic book published, which will contain all 36 contact sheets – available in September.
