Resume

Biography / Personal Statement

Dan studied fine art at Staffordshire University, graduating in 2003 when he moved to Chorlton. Here he got involved in the city’s art scene, taking part in the ‘Doodlebug’ event at the ‘Corner House’ and being commissioned to paint a number of murals in city centre shops and bars.

In 2006 the Cambridge based clothing label ‘Supremebeing’ commissioned a tee shirt design, this was a massive boost to his confidence in his art and the possibilities it could bring.

Artists 30DZ, Coabie, Crass and Dan have recently formed the ‘NSFN’ graffiti production crew, working with four very different styles to produce high quality and eye catching murals.

Dan works in a wide variety of media, pencils, pens, emulsions, acrylics, spray paint and a mix of hand made and digital art. He is currently teaching himself to use ‘Flash’ animation. His work comes in a number of styles but all retaining a distinctive psychedelic, surreal quality.

Inspired by artists such as Vaughn Bode, George Herriman, David Shrigley, Amy Sol, traditional Japanese art, contemporary and traditional comics, graffiti and street art, clever advertisements and strange patterns and shapes found in nature…to name but a few.
