Blank Media Collective Internships
Blank Media Collective is looking to build upon our dedicated team of volunteers to enhance and support the growing reputation of the organisation.
The Internships offer volunteers the opportunity to learn more about the ways in which Blank Media Collective operates and give them a hands-on experience of implementing exhibitions, events and publications.
Claire Curtin took part in Blank Media Collective's Intern programme from August - October 2009 and now works as one of our Exhibitions Coordinators:
"The internship with Blank Media Collective came at just the right time for me before the post uni blues set in. It was great to be involved as an intern with such an exciting organisation, enabling me to meet a diverse group of practitioners who have a wide range of interests and skills. The skills I have gained in speaking and getting my opinion heard have really helped my personal development and confidence. I think this has helped me to perform well in interviews and since joining the collective I have had 3 job offers! I have also benefited from learning how to form exhibition proposals and work with artists."
Working as an Intern with Blank Media Collective can provide a direct opportunity for the individual to progress and take up a permanent role within the organisation.
There a range of different areas in which the intern may choose to work, including:
- Development
- Website content management & design
- Exhibitions
- Special Projects
- Music / performance
- Moving Image
- Editorial
Alongside the Internship, the organisation also offers a Mentoring Scheme, in which each volunteer is assigned to a member of the Blank Media Collective team. This enables the intern to gain valuable support and advice on their own personal practice, as well as the work that they do with us from an established and experienced member of the team.
Blank Media Collective is looking for committed creative people based around the Manchester area that would like to use and advance their current skills and knowledge of the arts. The Internship will help the individual gain valuable experience and an edge within the competitive arts industry.
The placements will be for 3 months and you should be able to commit to at least 8 hours per week, which can be flexible.

Donations
Blank Media Collective is a not-for-profit organisation relying upon fundraising and external support to promote the work of emerging practitioners. The work that we do would not be possible without the kind support and donations that we receive.
We use donations to:
- Implement and advertise Blank Media Collective exhibitions and events
- Contribute towards the hire of external venues for exhibitions and events
- Help meet the hosting costs of our website
Blank Media Collective is also working towards opening our first Contemporary Art Space based in Manchester. This space will promote and support the work of emerging practitioners from throughout the UK and Internationally. Blank Media Collective is a not-for-profit arts organisation that is run completely on a voluntary basis by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers.
Blank Media Collective can offer Advertisement packages on our website homepage and blankpages online magazine starting at £50.
Our ever-growing figures currently average 30,000 visitors per year to our website and a readership of 38,000 for blankpages. Our audience covers all of the creative industries including visual arts, film, design, creative writing, music and performance.
